DJ Gierhart is a competitor in the Midwest Combat Chess League, currently signed to The Legion.
History[]
2012 DJ was the Legion's first round draft pick at the suggestion of Mike Lubke, after having seen him wrestle the prior year. He fit in well with his teammates and adapted to Human Combat Chess very quickly. He played the rook position the entire year, and accrued a regular season record of 4-2. He won a stunning victory in the semifinals that year, and was en route to a repeat performance in the finals against Corsairs rook Robert Korsmo, but before he could land his final blow he was viciously knocked unconscious with a buckler to the chin.
Fighting Style[]
DJ is an accomplished amateur wrestler, and has tremendous upper body strength. He pushes the pace in his bouts, and listens closely to his coaches for tactical advice. Unarmed bouts are his specialty, though he frequently chooses heavier weapons that he knows he can handle more deftly than his opponents.
