The 2012 Olympic Application was a joint effort by the Midwest Combat Chess League and the Combative Chess International Coalition (PCPA) to gain inclusion of Human Combat Chess into the 2012 London Olympics as an exhibition sport.
Modifications to RulesEdit
The International Olympic Committee requested a number of rules changes to those proposed by the MCCL and PCPA in order to meet Olympic Standards of play. These included rules governing board dimensions/materials, pawn promotions, and weapon choice.
The petition failed to pass the scrutiny of the IOC, stating that "There was insufficient continuity between the rules sets of the varying chess coalitions internationally to justify unifying their amateur competition at the Olympics Games at this point"
